The
Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a growing
international school in Amsterdam. We are looking for a teaching
assistant to support and coach students in our secondary “Flex class”
and in the classroom. In the flex class we support students with their
academic skills and learning behaviour. This is an exciting development
in our school and we are looking for a skilled and experienced teaching
assistant who can support our students in their first year in secondary
education.

Salary max. €2,961.- full-time per month | part time or full time | Amsterdam

You
are an inspirational assistant, who can stimulate students’ learning
skills. You need to be an innovative and creative teaching assistant
with experience and/or further education in special education and
inclusion. You are experienced in working with students with behavior
and learning challenges. You have experience in working in a classroom
setting with the classroom teacher. You are an expert in scaffolding
learning for students . You can contribute to a close school community
and work as part of a dynamic and hardworking team.

You need to have:
● Previous experience working as a teaching assistant,
● expertise in scaffolding learning to promote student independence,
● excellent knowledge and experience of different teaching and educational methodologies,
● an understanding and knowledge of different cultural backgrounds,
● the ability and initiative to help create and implement school policy,
● excellent command of the English language and general communication skills.
Furthermore, you have a collaborative mindset, are flexible, resilient, open to new ideas, and have a good sense of humour.

About the Amsterdam International Community School (AICS)
The AICS
is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School. We are an IB
World School school that offers PYP, MYP, DP, and CPl. Together with a
number of other national Dutch schools we form ‘Esprit Scholen’. The
AICS is a partly-state-funded community school, which enables us to
deliver high-quality education at competitive fees. The AICS is a
fully-accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS)
and offers international education to internationally-mobile students
from over 50 different nationalities.
The AICS currently offers
Primary education to students aged 4-11 and Secondary education to
students aged 11-18. The main language of instruction for classes is
English. We are located on two campuses in the city of Amsterdam; AICS
South and AICS Sandcastle South East where we provide international
education for 2, 200 children in our primary and secondary schools. As
of August 2021, the AICS is in collaboration with Stichting Kolom (a
special education school group) to offer increased opportunities for
special education for the children of international families via the
AICS Student Support Centre. In September 2024, we will open the AICS
student support center in our secondary school.
