We are looking for a Leader of Administration (0,8 - 1,0 fte). Pay scale 11, depending on expertise and relevant experience a maximum monthly salary of € 4.748 gross fulltime per month, before tax.
Starting date: September 2019.

About the AICS
The AICS is the first Dutch International Primary and Secondary School in Amsterdam, founded in 2003. AICS is affiliated with the Berlage Lyceum and the Europaschool in Amsterdam, which, together with a number of other schools, form ‘Esprit Scholen Amsterdam’. The school is subsidised by the Dutch government, which enables it to deliver high quality education at competitive fees. The AICS is a school for international education that is accredited by the Council of International Schools and focuses on children from international backgrounds. Currently the school offers primary education to students aged 4 – 10 (IPC International Primary Curriculum) and secondary education to students aged 11 – 19 (IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme). The main language of instruction for classes is English. After several moves since the start of the school in 2003, the AICS is now located in three buildings with nearly 1400 students. AICS is about to grow to a population of approximately 2000 students within the next 4 years.

Vacancy text
We are looking for a pro-active Leader of Administration, who together with the Leader of Operations, is responsible for the supporting processes in all three locations of the school. The Leader of Administration heads the administrative department at the AICS – admissions, administration (students and staff) finances, PR and communication. He or she coordinates the activities and manages the staff in these departments. There are approximately 20 members of staff.

You need to be:

  • An experienced team leader;
  • Able to work as a patient yet determined leader and a team member in a dynamic school;
  • Flexible and open to new ideas;
  • Someone who enjoys working in a diverse environment, with people of different cultural backgrounds:
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both written and spoken:
  • Someone with previous in:
    • overseeing the management of (the school’s) administrative records and the quality of supporting processes;
    • responsibility for the performance and development of staff;
    • taking responsibility for implementation of procedures and agreements;
    • contributing to whole school policies and developments;
    • recognizing and adapting to (digital) developments.

You need to have:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills;
  • The ability to function well within a team and in a complex organisation;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience;
  • Knowledge of administrative processes and financial matters;
  • A commitment to the school’s mission;
  • The ability to take initiative in creating and implementing school policy;
  • An understanding and knowledge of different cultural backgrounds;
  • Experience in (international) education is an additional asset.
